BTW: The White House Should Hire Me

President Obama is catching some heat for his comment about the 'Special Olympics' during his interview with Jay Leno. Of course, immediately after the interview, the White House issued this statement about the remark:

"The President made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks that the Special Olympics are a wonderful program that gives an opportunity to shine to people with disabilities from around the world."

Of course, I made some minor edits. I would argue that the Special Olympics should be referred to in the singular, since the statement refers to the Olympics as a "program." Here's my revised version:
"The President made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks that the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives people with disabilities from around the world an opportunity to shine."
