Team Live,Laugh Walk's 2009 American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk Photos
I have good news: Team Live, Laugh Walk survived the AFSP Overnight Walk last weekend. But I want you to know that we couldn't’t have done it without YOU!! Our team laughed, we cried, we got rained on, and some of us even got blisters on our feet. It was truly an eventful journey.
Thanks again for supporting this important cause, which is near and dear to my heart. Because of you we met our fundraising goal! We raised $3,600!
Here are some pictures from the walk. I hope you enjoy them. Please think about walking with me next year, when the walk is in Washington D.C.!
Smooches!

How Twitter saved public relations from PR
Here's a great article I found in PR WEEK
Greg Galant
April 13, 2009
....The human touch is needed again in business to build trust with customers and shareholders. In conducting research with over a dozen major brands for the Shorty Report (a 160-page research report on how businesses are being effective on Twitter) we found that Twitter allows, if not forces, businesses to act human again.
Twitter is a service that lets anyone send a public status message in 140 characters or less. It can be compared to a blog, except it has a few key differences aside from the limited message length. It takes less than a minute to set up a Twitter account, and Twitter's easy input doesn't leave much opportunity for third party review. Because of this, as we discovered while preparing the Shorty Report, employees are springing up from all over companies to communicate.
"Had breakfast mtg w/ Zappos board member. Neither of us are morning people. Naptime now (at least for me, I don't track his sleeping habits)" is a recent tweet from Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos which is now a billion-dollar-a-year online retailer. Is it professional? No. Is it human? Yes.

Chicago Surprises Video:
Chicago is in the running to host the 2016 Olympics. And this is the video Chicago leaders recently presented to the International Olympic Committee in an effort to convince them that The Windy City is the best place for the upcoming Olympic Games. The video received harsh reviews from Chicago Sun Times Columnist Lewis Lazare, but I beg to differ. I'm a midwestern girl at heart and I LOVE Chicago, it's a world-class city. So here's my review: This video rocks.

What's NOT Wrong with this Video?
I don't know where to start with this foolishness! I just stumbled accross the Dream and Mariah's new video for the song My Love. Here's just a few things that are wrong with this video (feel free to add your observations in the comments section LOL): Overall, Mariah Carey trying to play a Hood girl just doesn't work AT ALL! 1. Cornrows on Mariah don't work. 2. Mariah wearing Jordans? That's wrong on so many levels. 3. Lastly, I'd bet my last dollar that Mariah doesn't have the first clue about braiding hair, but she's braiding some guys hair on the front porch in this video.

Ray J's New Video: Sexy Ladies
So singer/reality star Ray J is promoting the new I Love Ray J Soundtrack. A soundtrack for a reality show, yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I don't think I'll be rushing to put that album on my iPod. And to make matters worse, he premiered his new video for the song Sexy Ladies on 106&Park today. The video basicaly features random clips from the show, the chicks from the show (Danger gets the most face time) and him doing some push ups. Say it with me people: LOW BUDGET. I am posting the video below for your viewing (dis)pleasure LOL.

Daisy of Love premieres April 26. Oh, and 12 Pack (from VH1's I Love New York and I Love Money) is going to be on the show fighting for the Love of Daisy. China Military Trains First PR Team
China military trains first public relations team
By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN – 2 days ago
BEIJING (AP) — China's military is training propaganda teams for the first time to explain its actions to the outside world, as the traditionally insular and secretive force engages more with other countries' militaries and deploys its ships and personnel abroad.
An initial class of 51 officers graduated this week in an effort to "raise the opinion-forming ability of the force's foreign propaganda team and advance the innovation and development of the military propaganda work," the official People's Liberation Army Daily reported Friday.
The two-week training course included classes dealing with China's recent dispatch of ships to carry out anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden, as well as joint China-India anti-terror drills and other international missions, it said.

Friday Battle of the Beyonce's: Featuring EGO
It is my pleasure to provide you with a little something special as you surf the net for your last hour and forty five minutes of work. So MY new theme music is Beyonce's song Ego. Yes, I said it. That's my song of the moment. So when I stumbled across what three female dancers say is the POSSIBLE choreography Beyonce may be using for the upcoming Ego video, it reminded me of a video I had seen last week on one of my favorite blogs, Crunk and Disorderly of a lovely young man performing the exact same routine LOL. So YOU be the judge on who did this routine the best!!! ENJOY!!!

BTW: The White House Should Hire Me
President Obama is catching some heat for his comment about the 'Special Olympics' during his interview with Jay Leno. Of course, immediately after the interview, the White House issued this statement about the remark:
"The President made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks that the Special Olympics are a wonderful program that gives an opportunity to shine to people with disabilities from around the world."
Of course, I made some minor edits. I would argue that the Special Olympics should be referred to in the singular, since the statement refers to the Olympics as a "program." Here's my revised version:
"The President made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks that the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives people with disabilities from around the world an opportunity to shine."

Employees turned into contract workers at Tucson PR firm
As the owner of a small PR firm, I found this article very interesting, and slightly disturbing. Thanks to the economy, an Arizona PR firm had to make all of its employees work as freelancers, but the silver lining is that they were allowed to take their computers, desks and chairs so they could set up shop at home. For some reason, that reminds me of the scene in Jerry McGuire where Jerry takes the fish from the fish tank! LOL

"We are transforming for the future," owner Leslie Perls said. "You have to adapt or die. We are adapting so we can press forward with more great work."
LP&G offers advertising, marketing, PR and Web design services to local, national and international clients that include University Physicians Healthcare, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Xood, an energy drink designed by local cardiologists Lou Lancero and Salvatore Tirrito.
LP&G also served as the local media contact during the Tucson Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project in late January and early February.
But with advertising business dropping considerably of late — "advertising is one of the first things to go off a client's expenditures," Perls said — the decision was made to adjust to changes in the area that made up a majority of the company's workload.
"The marketplace has changed exponentially," Perls said. "Our clients need us to be less expensive, more pertinent and more flexible."
Perls said the switch, which begins Thursday, effects 15 of the company's 17 employees. Most will continue to do the same work as they did before, but much of that will be done from home rather than the company's 5,000-square foot office in the Historic Depot at 400 N. Toole Ave.
It is unclear whether the company will move out of that space, she said.
Because the affected employees are essentially being removed from the company’s payroll, Perls said they will be responsible for securing their own benefits. To compensate for that, the contractors will get two weeks’ severance and have been invited to take with them their computers, desks and chairs in order to be able to effectively set up shop at home, Perls said.

At least 3 percent of District residents have HIV or AIDS, a total that far surpasses the 1 percent threshold that constitutes a "generalized and severe" epidemic, according to a report scheduled to be released by health officials tomorrow.
That translates into 2,984 residents per every 100,000 over the age of 12 -- or 15,120 -- according to the 2008 epidemiology report by the District's HIV/AIDS office.
"Our rates are higher than West Africa," said Shannon L. Hader, director of the District's HIV/AIDS Administration, who once led the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's work in Zimbabwe. "They're on par with Uganda and some parts of Kenya."
"We have every mode of transmission" -- men having sex with men, heterosexual and injected drug use -- "going up, all on the rise, and we have to deal with them," Hader said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte used to be called a boom town, with more people flocking here for jobs and real estate.
But has that boom turned into a bust?
A PBS Frontline crew is trying to figure that out, researching an hour long show. For so long now the queen city has been king.
"Charlotte is a city that people want to be in," said Moira Quinn. Or used to want to be in, if you believe the PBS crew.
"Our future as a boomtown is over."
That's reportedly the gist of the show the producers are working on.

Tax man trips up dancing diva Lil' Kim
Rapper Lil' Kim, a contestant on this season's "Dancing With the Stars," owes $979,090 in delinquent state and federal taxes, records show.
Pop culture fans might remember Kim has a special connection to Motown royalty. Supremes singer Diana Ross and Kim, who was wearing a skin-baring outfit, were co-presenters at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. At one point, Ross leaned over and playfully fondled the rap diva's exposed breast.
The 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, has had trouble paying on time before. Last year, the repo man seized her Bentley after she missed four payments.
What's owed:
The state of New York filed a $12,599 tax warrant on April 26, 2008, in the New York County Clerk's office. The IRS filed a $50,464 lien on Sept. 5, 2007, in the Bergen (N.J.) County Clerk's office. The IRS filed a $67,509 lien on May 14, 2007, in Bergen County. The state of California filed a $4,089 lien on Sept. 16, 2005, in Sacramento County Court. The IRS filed a $232,348 lien on Aug. 16, 2005, in New Jersey. The state of New Jersey filed a $51,471 lien on Aug. 11, 2005, in New Jersey State Superior Court. WASILLA, Alaska Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, have broken off their engagement, he said Wednesday, about 2 1/2 months after the couple had a baby.
Johnston, 19, told The Associated Press that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin mutually decided "a while ago" to end their relationship. He declined to elaborate as he stood outside his family's home in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage.
He also said some details of the breakup, rumors of which had been swirling on the Internet, were inaccurate.
Bristol Palin said in a statement that she was devastated about a report on Star magazine's Web site that quoted Levi's sister, Mercede, as saying Bristol "makes it nearly impossible" to visit the teenagers' infant son, Tripp. The baby was born Dec. 27.

Cocktail from For the Luv of Ray J was on Bad Girls Club Season 1
I missed Monday's episode of I love Ray J thanks to a missed connection at the Atlanta airport, but it sounds like Cocktail has been exposed. Is anyone surprised? These shows always have one girl that's been on like 17 reality shows before! LOL Think Pumpkin from Flavor of Love. Here's what I found online:
Biography
Joanna appears as a member of the cast in the Oxygen network reality television series The Bad Girls Club. She is 25 years old and a native of Sacramento, California, and grew up in a family of Hispanic descent. Though she makes a living as a go-go dancer, her parents remain supposedly unaware of the job she’s chosen. She has also had breast enhancement surgery, receiving implants in order to further enhance her slim physique.
She says that she cheats on her boyfriend, and seeks out sugar daddies to pay her way and get her everything she wants. She refers to herself as a “gold digger,” and says that her mom taught her this attitude, that she should seek out and exploit men who would be willing to provide for her every wish.

Macy's Losing Fine Jewelry Department
I just ran across this article on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel website. Wow. The recession is real! This is getting bad...But if you're in the market for some fine jewelry, you might want to check out one of these Clearance Sales!

By Doris Hajewski of the Journal Sentinel
Boston Store, Macy's and other department store chains around the country are losing their fine jewelry departments because the vendor is pulling out.
The departments have been operated for years by Finlay Enterprises under a lease with the department stores. Finlay, based in New York, also operates stores under the names Bailey Banks & Biddle; Carlyle; and Congress.
Finlay is having financial difficulties and has decided to get out of the department store business entirely.
Clearance sales are under way at the department stores. Chains in Wisconsin that are affected by the Finlay departure are Boston Store, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, Younkers and Macy's.
